HONOLULU – July 30, 2009 – Guests staying at any of Marriott’s five Hawaii hotels (www.marriotthawaii.com/@MarriottHawaii) can now choose a package option that allows the room rate for their last night’s stay to be donated to either the American Heart Association, Hawaii chapter; Kapiolani Children’s Miracle Network; or American Red Cross, Hawaii chapter.
The 10-month-long campaign dubbed – Marriott’s Giving with Aloha – was designed to raise much needed funds for non-profit organizations that are experiencing sharp declines in donations in the current economy.
For out-of-state guests, Marriott’s Giving with Aloha package starts at USD $279 per room, per night and includes deluxe accommodations for five consecutive nights and daily breakfast. Stays must be completed by June 20, 2010 and are subject to availability and changes without notice. The booking Promotional Code is P74. For Hawaii residents, the package is priced from $149 per room, per night and includes deluxe accommodations for four consecutive nights. The booking Promotional Code is PZ43. Proof of Hawaii State ID is required upon hotel check in. In both cases, the last night’s room revenue will be donated to the guest’s choice of the three charities. Stays must be completed by June 20, 2010 and are subject to availability and changes without notice.
The charities were selected because their good work and strong recognition nationwide will help attract visitors to the donation program.
In signing on for Marriott’s Giving with Aloha program, Lori K. Suan, executive director of the American Heart Association in Hawaii, said, “The funds generated will help the American Heart Association achieve its promise to Americans to have an extraordinary impact on their lives by empowering them and their loved ones to save lives, live healthier and enjoy more peace of mind about cardiovascular health.”
Coralie Chun Matayoshi, chief executive officer of American Red Cross said, “Marriott’s generosity will help us save lives and give hope by aiding disaster victims, teaching lifesaving skills, and keeping military families in touch during times of crisis. We hope that our Facebook and Twitter followers nationwide will see this as a nice way to donate without adding any extra expense to their vacation costs.”
“Their continued generosity has helped make thousands of miracles happen for sick and injured children throughout the Pacific Basin,” said Stacey Acma, director of Kap`iolani Children's Miracle Network. “One hundred percent of every dollar raised by Marriott has stayed in Hawaii, truly making a difference in our community by assisting in the programs and services provided by our state’s only children’s hospital, Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. The biggest miracles begin with the smallest acts of kindness and we thank Marriott for sharing in the miracles.”
Participating resort hotels in Hawaii are: JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club, Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.

Artists of varying abilities whether beginner or accomplished needing renewal and focus are invited to join others of a like mind for a week or more at Kona Village’s newly introduced Hawaiian Art Journey.
For decades artists have considered Kona Village one of the best places for light and for inspiration. Hawaiian Art Journey, directed by Robert Adams, facilitates drawing, painting and sculpting groups and classes.
“The core activities planned for each week-long Art Journey are sleep − to the sound of waves − wake, walk, draw, paint, sculpt, study, relax, eat, and rejuvenate,” according to Adams. “Participants are also likely to find focus and renewal in addition to art skills gained. They may well return home having experienced their best week of the year.” Adams adds that Hawaiian Art Journey caters to the easel arts including painting and drawing as well as small scale sculpture.
Artists, art instructors, or anyone interested in learning is encouraged to utilize the flexible format of Hawaiian Art Journey to create their own group for a week of their choosing, based on Kona Village availability. Organizers who bring ten or more paid enrollments for a week-long program receive their own stay complimentary. If there are fewer than ten paid enrollees, then organizers can create a class description to add to the Hawaiian Art Journey web site for others to see and enroll.
Seven-night program rates begin at $2,222 per person double occupancy and include three island-inspired meals each day served oceanfront. Rates also include taxes, gratuities, and transfers from Kona International Airport to Kona Village and numerous resort activities such as snorkeling, tennis, fitness center and kayaking. With the many inclusions, guests have the opportunity to de-stress from everyday life and focus entirely on art. Art supplies, select ocean activities, and spa services are not included. Other fees may apply.
